Careers After Chemistry 2025
The inaugural CAC occurred in 2021 when chemistry graduate students saw a need for guidance in seeking non-academic careers. They successfully held an online conference and made connections with many alumni. The second CAC in 2023, carried on a tradition of excellence as a hybrid, 2-day conference and saw attendance from over 100 graduate students. We are excited to host this event again in the fall of 2025 to continue aiding chemistry graduate students in building fulfilling careers.

I am a 3rd year PhD student in the Auclair Lab, where I study enzymatic pathways involved in bacterial immune evasion. Alongside my research, I am passionate about supporting my community. I have served as President of the Chemistry Graduate Student Society and was actively involved in organizing the previous Careers After Chemistry (CAC) conference. As part of this year’s organizing team, I’m excited to help create opportunities for our students to explore diverse career paths and build meaningful professional networks.

Hi! I am a 3rd year PhD student in the Luedtke lab investigating new methods to install click handles within RNA/DNA. Besides research, I am passionate about sports (hockey, soccer), playing music, and travel! As a member of the CAC 2025 organizing committee, I’m excited to connect students with potential career options, make new friends, and discover new career options for myself as well.

Hi! I’m Natalia, a second-year PhD student at McGill University in the Auclair Lab, where I study cellulose and enzymes. I’m passionate about sustainable chemistry and exploring how enzymes can help us transform renewable resources. Outside the lab, I love spending time outdoors, baking, watching movies, and getting creative with crafts. I’m excited to help organize the CAC Conference and support fellow graduate students in discovering diverse and fulfilling career paths!

I am a second year PhD student studying synthetic applications of orthoquinones and their derivatives in the Lumb lab. I believe graduating in chemistry can lead to a wider range of career paths than just academia. My internship in industry led me to realize how high level chemistry is performed there and how diverse the teams working on a project could be. I want graduate students to be aware of where they could apply their skills upon graduating, be it in the chemical industry or in alternative career paths. That is why alongside my research I am part of the Career after Chemistry Conference team!

Hello! I am a 2nd year PhD candidate in Chemistry at McGill University, co-supervised by Dr. Auclair and Dr. Moitessier. In my research, I apply computational tools such as molecular docking to design and synthesize novel compounds to combat antimicrobial resistance. As Sponsorship Lead for CAC 2025, I am excited to build partnerships and help create an engaging and impactful conference this fall. I am passionate about science communication and love being involved with the McGill Chemistry Outreach team. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
