ALICIA WU

Senior Scientist, Amgen Inc.

Alicia Wu is a Senior Scientist at Amgen, specializing in Drug Product Development for Biologics. She earned her PhD in Materials Chemistry from McGill University under Prof. Mark Andrews, with a thesis on the chemical and physical properties of nanocellulose microbeads. During her PhD, she participated in the Merck Innovation Center Summer School in Germany, where she developed biosensor solutions for healthcare applications.

She then joined Tufts University as a postdoctoral scholar in the Kaplan Lab, leading projects on silk-based biomaterials for drug delivery and medical implants. In 2022, Alicia transitioned to industry as a Biomaterials Scientist at TurtleTree Labs, where she worked on developing scalable downstream processes for recombinant milk proteins. Later, she became the Business Development Lead, building strategic partnerships and driving the company’s commercial product sales.
 

Now at Amgen, Alicia focuses on late-stage drug product development to advance therapeutics to commercialization. She is also an active member of the WEST organization, supporting women-in-STEM initiatives in Boston.
