stephane de cesco

Director of Computational Drug Discovery & Data Sciences, Onco3R

Stephane, being from Belgium, did a master's in organic chemistry at université Libre de Bruxelles. After that, he moved to Montreal to do his Ph.D in the lab of Prof. Nic Moitessier in medicinal chemistry. His growing interest in covalent inhibitors and desire to learn more about biophysics led him to become co-supervised by Prof. Mittermaier.

After completing his PhD in 2016, he left to do a post-doc at the University of Oxford in the Drug Discovery Institute, working as a computational chemist under the supervision of Prof. Paul Brennan.

In 2020, he moved back to Belgium to work as a senior scientist, computational chemist at Confo Therapeutics, a biotech from Ghent working on GPCRs.

In 2023, he then joined Galapagos to lead the team of computational drug design, working in different disease areas such as oncology, immunology and infectious diseases. After Galapagos decided to discontinue their small molecule programs this year, he joined Onco3R, a small biotech focused on delivering best in class drugs for patients, as their Director for computational drug discovery and data sciences.
